JULIA B. BURNS HARRISONBURG, VA Julia Ann (Batson) Burns, 73, wife of Harry N. Burns, of 29 Emery Street, was led to her new life in glory on Saturday, August 6, 2011, in Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She was born November 26, 1937 in Berea, WV, a daughter of the late Claren Haver and Onita (Morrison) Batson. Mrs. Burns graduated from Madison College in 1958, receiving a degree in education. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Spotswood Elementary School as a teacher with 42 years of service. In addition to her husband, family members include a daughter, Terry B. Snyder of Harrisonburg; a brother, Gordon D. Batson of South Boston; four grandchildren, Aaron, Julia, Sam, and Seth; and a great grandchild, Kylie. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Batson Warner. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Elder Art Gehly, Sr. and Art Gehly, Jr. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011, in the funeral home. The family will also receive friends following the service at the family residence. Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes, 1356 S. Main Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
