Lillie May B. Fitzgerald

Lillie May Bowers Fitzgerald, 99 years young, of Greenville, VA walked into Jesus’ loving arms on June 10, 2023.

Lillie May was born on January 19, 1924 in Augusta County to the late William and Sylvia Bowers.

She is survived by her daughters, Charlotte Cash, Betty (Jimmy) Lucas, and Carolyn (Jim) Driscoll; her half sisters, Barbara Buchanan and Anabelle Koogler; her grandsons, Jeff (Sandra) and John Cash, and Donald (Hani) Harlow, II; her granddaughters, Dana Cash, Susan (Randy Eye) Painter and Heather (Billy) Harlow Boros. She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren: Matthew (Danielle) Cash, Jeremiah (finace Susan VanNess) Cash, Will (Hannah) Painter, Faun (Adam) Runkle,, Wesley (Kali) Cash, Zackery Cash, Chloe, Bubba and Adilyn Boros and 2 great-great grandchildren.

May was preceded in death by her husband, Bernice Wilson Fitzgerald; her son, Bobby Wilson Fitzgerald; her brother and half-brother, Ralph Bowers and Billy Bowers; her sisters and half-sister, Betty Frances Susa, Delores Bryant, Lola Edwards, and Mary Jane Martin; and her granddaughter Jenny Lou Fitzgerald.

She served as a Charge Aide at Western State Hospital.

May will be remembered by many for her smile, laugh, love for lighthouses, puzzles, flowers, and babies. May always looked her best and had to have her hair done. She was one of the best cooks around and was always helping with dinners and church events. May always had fresh cookies baked for all the trick-or-treaters who stopped by to see her and was always there to help her family during canning season. She loved to sit on the porch and snap beans and her hands were small enough to fit inside jars to pack those green beans just right. May loved vacations to Pigeon Forge and to VA Beach to visit her family. Her favorite place to eat was Cracker Barrel and hated ice in her water. May was a stranger to no-one and loved her family unconditionally.

The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 6pm-8pm at Henry Funeral Home.

The Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 14th at 10am at Mount Paran Baptist Church Cemetery in Montebello.

A funeral service will follow at 11:30am at Raphine Christian Church with John Ward officiating.

All are welcome to attend both the burial and the service.
