Martha Lewis Armstrong

MARTHA J. ARMSTRONG STAUNTON, VA Martha Lewis (Johnson) Armstrong, 58, widow of Robert Preston Armstrong of 545 Hull Street, Staunton, died Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born August 29, 1953 in Staunton, a daughter of Harry and Cora (Strickler) Johnson. Mrs. Armstrong was a nurse's aide at Western State Hospital and a member of the Salvation Army of Waynesboro. Family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and William H. Hartsook of Staunton and Denise Tucker of Rhode Island, and Terry Tucker of Fishersville; two brothers, Harry and Jerry Johnson, both of Staunton; a grandson, Preston Tucker of Fishersville; two special nieces, Angel Reynolds and Carol Grant, both of Stuarts Draft; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Lt. John Blevins. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Mike Fitzgerald, Dion Gibbons, Frank Washington, Cody Johnson, John Rosvall, Jr., and Donnie Monroe. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service and members of the Salvation Army of Waynesboro.
