Mary "Bette" Elizabeth Herr

Mary "Bette" Elizabeth Herr passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Brookdale in Staunton, Virginia. 

She was born on October 18, 1929, in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Melvin Otto Wiggins, Sr., and Ruth Elizabeth Fetheroff Wiggins.

Bette served as the Clerk of Staunton City Council from 1973 until 1988.  

Bette was known for her passion for playing bridge and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Her warm and caring nature touched the lives of many, leaving cherished memories with all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sons, Robert Edward Herr II and Jon Anthony Herr; and her brothers, Melvin Otto Wiggins and Frank Samuel Wiggins.

Bette is survived by her cousin, Brian Mason and his family; her beloved cat, Su-Su; as well as her dear friends, David and Joyce Obenschain, Becky Kohler, and Ellie Setzer.

She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her kindness, zest for life, and unwavering love she shared with those around her.

There will be no formal services.
