Mary D. Bondurant

Mary Ann Dowell Bondurant, 83, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Staunton.

She was born on November 19, 1940, in Albemarle County to the late John Henry and Laura Ann Mohler Dowell.

Mary worked as a certified seamstress for many years at Ruby’s. Outside of her work, she had a real passion for singing, dancing, cooking and DIY projects. Her love of cooking brought together family and friends for countless meals over the years. Music was at the heart of every event, bringing joy and comfort to all those she knew and loved. She was a true do-it-yourselfer and could turn any idea into a reality, inspiring all with her resourcefulness.

She is survived by her sons, Harold Everett Bondurant, Marvin Eugene Hawkins, Blair Leroy Hawkins, and Timothy Camaron Hawkins; her daughters, Juanita Elizabeth Hawkins and Jennifer Lee Smith; as well as one granddaughter; four grandsons; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings. 

Services to celebrate the life of Mary will be announced at a later date.
