Meredith “Jim” Coiner Ashby, Jr., 77, widower of Donna (Harris) Ashby, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Birch Gardens.

He was born on September 28, 1943 in Augusta County to the late Meredith Coiner Ashby, Sr. and Lois (Young) Ashby.

Jim worked as an electrician and owned Ashby Electric. He and Donna enjoyed showing sheep and were big supporters of 4-H and FFA market and animal shows.

He is survived by three sisters; Mary Alice Berry, Evelyn Jack (William), and Helen Johnson; and a number of nieces and nephews including Eddie Landes, Rick Landes, Chad Garland, and Mark Garland.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Ashby; his brothers, Charles “Buddy” Ashby and Albert Randolph “Butch” Ashby; and his sisters, Barbara Lee Landes and Shirley Landrum.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 6:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M at Henry Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Raymond McCray, Fred McCray, John Tankesly, David Shifflett, John Pastors, Eddie Landes, Rick Landes, and Doug Wilson.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Augusta County 4-H FFA, c/o Mark Garland, Treasurer at 3422 Spring Hill Rd, Staunton, VA 24401.
