Michael Roman

Michael Roman, 80, husband of Barbara (Longstreet) Roman of Staunton, died on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on September 7, 1942 in Hungary, son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Mary (Sarkany) Roman.

Before retiring, Michael was a Finance Manager, serving in California, New Orleans, Saudi Arabia and finally, the Staunton area.

He was an active member and Sunday School teacher of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He was a Past Lieutenant Governor of the Capital District – Division 9, Kiwanis, active in Key Club, and a supporter of Blue Ridge Area Food Pantry.

Michael was a veteran of the Army National Guard.

In addition to his wife, family includes his brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Pam Roman; niece, Laura Roman; nephew, Ronald Roman; additional family includes Grace and Paul Zammit, Ronald Longstreet, Eugene and Viola Longstreet, Diane and Alan Burling, Robert and Carla Longstreet, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Diego, Cordel, and Bella.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Timothy Roman.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 12:00 PM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with the Reverend Matthias Lusembo officiating.

Inurnment will be private at Thornrose Cemetery.
