Mildred Anne Meyerhoeffer Moore, 92, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at The Meadows at Stuarts Draft Retirement Community and Christian Homes.

She was born on November 25, 1932, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Wade William and Delpha Virginia Link Meyerhoeffer.

She married the late James William Moore, Jr. on October 3, 1951. 

Mildred was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a long-time member of Fishersville United Methodist Church where she was active in Kinder Care, XYZ’s, Nellie Meyer Circle and the CBF Sundy School Class. She worked for 22 years at the Fishersville Virginia Post Office, first as a substitute mail carrier and then as a postal clerk. Mildred enjoyed playing cards, playing Scrabble and word games on the computer, and visiting with her great grandchildren. She also took frequent Shenandoah Tours trips with close friends. Mildred is survived by her two children, James William Moore III and his wife, Pamela, of Stuarts Draft, and Gary Edward Moore and his wife, Bonnie, of Lewes, DE; her grandson, Kevin Andrew Moore and his wife, Katie, of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and four great-grandchildren, Jacob Jeffrey Moore, Kerrigan Fidler Moore, Finley James Moore, and Harper Russell Moore.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Alan Moore; her brothers, William Wade and Nelson Bee Meyerhoeffer; and her sisters, Virginia Lucille Meyerhoeffer Weaver, Ellen Elaine Meyerhoeffer Drumheller, Martha Lee Meyerhoeffer Strole, and Sara "June" Katheryn Meyerhoeffer Garrison. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro, with the Reverend Peter Choi officiating. 

A special reception will be held at Fishersville United Methodist Church Dotson Cafe after the service. 

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that those desiring may make memorial contributions to Fishersville United Methodist Church (1600 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, VA 22939) or Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah (c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939).
