Darb Tiderman, a retired Captain of the US Navy, passed away on March 14, 2023.
He was born in Kansas in 1925 where he spent his childhood.
Capt. Tiderman attended Duke and Columbia Universities, earned a Master's Degree in International Relations from George Washington University, and completed the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
He married Janet Loyer, his wife of 74 years, on March 12, 1949,
As a naval officer, Capt. Tiderman served on active duty during three wars, and had assignments in locations including California, Japan, Newport R.I., Iceland, Hawaii, and Washington, DC, where he retired. Following his retirement, he and Jan made their home in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
Capt. Tiderman is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Loyer Tiderman; his two daughters, Debbie Metz of Staunton, VA and Karen Owens of Cary, NC, and their respective husbands Dave and Joe; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
His family deeply mourns the loss of this exceptional man, whose life was an embodiment of duty, honor, and integrity. Capt. Tiderman's legacy will serve as a guiding light and source of pride for generations to come.
He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
