Pat Jones passed away peacefully at Summit Square in Waynesboro on July 27, 2023. Her soul joined her savior and Lord Jesus Christ, immediately upon this transition to heaven. She is now at peace without any pain.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Berry Allen Jones Jr.; her daughter, Carla Stout; her siblings, Dru Heller, Andrea Vargo (Ed McNamara), Bill Stevens, Michael Stevens (Mimi Maduro), Melissa Stevens (Don Wood), Gerry Stevens (Donna Stevens), and Theresa Stevens-Reines (Peter); grandchildren, Luke Stout (Amy), Cameryn Whalen (Todd), and Noelle Stout; her sister-in- law, Judi Allen (John); and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Bill Stevens; her brother, Chris; and her mother and father-in-law, Hope and Allen Jones.
Pat was born December 21, 1944, in Roanoke, Virginia. She graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in Salem, Virginia. She graduated with a degree from Radford University in early childhood education.
She became a school teacher in Rockingham County Schools for 25 years. She loved her children, and after retirement when riding by a school, she would say, “ Oh, I wish I was teaching those children. I really miss them.”
She enjoyed her early morning walks on Bells Lane, the Mary Baldwin Campus, or Mill Place. She also enjoyed having lunch at Ravens Roost which was her favorite spot on the parkway.
Pat attended New Covenant Community Church, Holy Cross PCA, and more recently, Tabernacle PCA. She was an active member of bible study fellowship and became a discussion leader for a number of years. Her love of the Lord Jesus prompted her to disciple other women, encouraging them to grow in their knowledge and affection for their savior. Those who received her care and compassion experienced a heart connection with her.
A circle of remembrance is scheduled for Wednesday August 2, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Henry Funeral home in Staunton. All family and friends are invited to attend and share experiences they had together with Pat.
