Patsy H. Mateo

Patsy (Shifflett) Hicks Mateo, 64, wife of Calixto Mateo, passed away on January 5, 2022 at UVA Medical Center.

She was born on November 9, 1957 to the late Larman Edward and Agnes Virginia (Gibson) Shifflett.

Patsy loved being a grandparent and enjoyed watching crime shows and westerns. She was a good-hearted person and loved her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Henry Lee Hicks, Jr.; her stepsons, Freddy Corona and Andy Corona; her daughters, Lara Ann Lopez and Ruben Lopez, son-in-law, and Rebecca Lynn Hicks and Joey Boyne, son-in-law; her brothers, Jacob Shifflett and David Shifflett; her aunt, Ella Mae; her grandchildren, Lisbed Hicks (Ivan), Soyla Lopez-Hicks, Suli Lopez-Hicks, Lucy Hicks, Tony Hicks, and Lexi Boyne; her great-granddaughter, Lillie Valles Hicks; her nieces, Holly Sykes and Michelle Rexrode; and her nephews, Christopher Rexrode, Elmer Rexrode, Alex Rexrode, and Michael Rexrode; her great niece, Gracey Rexrode; and her great nephew, Shawn Rexrode.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her former husband, Henry Lee Hicks, Sr. and her brother, Gary Wayne Shifflett.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 6-8 P.M. at Henry Funeral Home.

A chapel service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Deacon Eicky B. Woodson, Jr. Burial will follow at Thornrose Cemetery.
