Patsy G. Whetsel

RAPHINE, VA…Mrs. Patsy Gail (Tichenor) Whetsel, 66, wife of Richard C. Whetsel, of Raphine, died Friday, March 25, 2016 in Hospice of the Piedmont.She was born on October 16, 1949 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Irwin Leo, Sr. and Ruby Gail (Newman) Tichenor.Mrs. Whetsel was previously employed as a supervisor at Unifi. She was later employed as a cafeteria worker at Riverheads Elementary School.In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Rick Whetsel of Staunton, and Nathaniel Whetsel of Raphine; a step son, Adam Whetsel of Roanoke; a brother, Irwin Leo Tichenor, Jr, of Verona; an uncle and aunt, Harold and Nancy Newman of Bluegrass; cousins, Ruth Newman of Bluegrass, and Beth Gum of Roanoke; and a special friend since childhood, Kay Wimer.A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. T. Bryson Smith.Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the funeral home.
