Paul Edwin Hartman, Sr., 86, peacefully passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 23, 2024, in Staunton.
He was born on June 18, 1938, in Rockingham County to the late James Roy and Minnie Belle Mongold Hartman.
Known for his kind and compassionate nature, Paul dedicated twenty-six years of his life to serving as a CNA at Western State Hospital in Staunton. Additionally, he spent nineteen years working at Holsum-Schmidt Bakery in Verona, showcasing his strong work ethic and commitment.
A true baseball enthusiast, Paul's love for the Dodgers and the Nationals was evident to all who knew him. However, his greatest joy came from being a father and grandfather. His presence brought warmth and happiness to the lives of his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Paul Edwin Hartman, Jr. and his wife, Robin; his daughter, Lisa Darlene Hartman Mann and her husband, Mitch; his grandchildren, Ashleigh Fuson and her husband, Bobby, Bethany Kiracofe and her husband, Zach, and Chaz Mann and his fiancée, Christina Rankin; his great-grandchildren, Carter, David, and Theodore Fuson, Violet and Rowan Kiracofe, and Emelia Mann; his sisters, Edna Mae Marshall, Wanda Lee Gregory, and Shirley Sue Samuels; and his sister-in-law, Ann Hartman.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie Catherine Johnson Hartman; his son, Jonathan Daniel Hartman; his brothers, Alfred "Al" Leroy and Ralph William Hartman; as well as his sisters, Stella Virginia Allison, Dorothy Pauline Thompson, and Elsie Irene Fitzgerald.
A graveside service will be held to honor Paul's memory at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro with Chaplain Dennis Taylor officiating.
It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial contributions to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah (c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939).
