Pauline Gertrude Almarode, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 05, 2025, at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born on May 18, 1932, in New Hope, Virginia, to the late Russell Warren and Florence Gertrude Whitesell Almarode.
Pauline was a proud graduate of Wilson Memorial High School in Fishersville, Virginia.
She attended Greenville United Methodist Church in Greenville for many years and she was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Stuarts Draft.
Pauline's professional life began in 1955 when she joined Howard Johnson’s Restaurant in Greenville, Virginia, a role she embraced until its closing in 1989. Following this, she continued her career at Armstrong’s Restaurant and Motel in Mint Spring, Virginia, where she served until her retirement in 2002.
Outside of her professional life Pauline found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a green thumb, taking great delight in gardening and canning her own vegetables.
She is survived by her nephew, John Bright; her nieces, Debbie Bright Harris and her husband, Jim and Sandra Carney and her husband, Jim; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a twin brother, Paul Russell Almarode, her brothers, Oscar and Fred Almarode; and her sister, Marion Wandless.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stuarts Draft with Reverend David Vaughan.
Arrangements are being handled by Henry Funeral Home.
