Peggy Louise (Fix) Yesalavich widow of Sergeant John Milton Yesalavich, USMC, 76, passed away on March 23, 2023 at her residence.
Peggy was born on March 12, 1947 in Staunton to the late Keith Jackson and Beulah Olevia (Lotts) Fix.
She was a faithful member of Zetta Presbyterian Church where she was involved in the Ladies Circle. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Peggy was a teacher’s aide at North River Elementary School and then later opened up a pre-school in her home. She retired from William Edwards Trucking Company as a secretary.
In addition to her loving husband of fifty-four years, she is survived by her daughters, Debra Y. Sumner (Michael) and Karen D. Leach (Dr. Jeremy); her grandchildren, Charles and Kristin Stogdale, Madyson Sumner, and Jackson Leach; her great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Rylee Stogdale and Kairi Terry; her sister-in-law, Janet Yesalavich (David Zimmerman); her brother-in-law, Joseph Yesalavich (Jackie); and her nieces, Kimberly Fix Strother, Christie Yesalavich, Angie Yesalavich; her special daughters, Cristina Casada, Heather Auville, and Lorie Woolridge; and a special friend, Ruth Knott.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Corporal Dwayne M. Yesalavich, USMC and a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Ariel Fix.
A chapel service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Stan Farthing officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Gibson, Jeff Lucas, Larry Lawhorne, Homer Eutsler, Charles Stogdale, Ian Horn, Lucian Whitmore, and Harold Wells.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Zetta Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105); Shriners Hospitals for Children (2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607); and Boys Town National Research Hospital (14000 Boys Town Hospital Road, Boys Town, NE 68010).
