P.F. "Buck" Fitzgerald

P. F. “Buck” Fitzgerald, 75, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

He was born on June 23, 1949, in Staunton to the late Loyd Forrest and Frances Sue Tharp Fitzgerald.

Buck graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1969. He honorably served in the Army. After high school Buck dedicated thirty-three years of his life to working for DuPont as a mechanical technician. Additionally, he proudly owned and operated his own business, Buck’s Painting, LLC, for over fifty years. He was also a member of Third Presbyterian Church in Staunton.

He will most be remembered as a kind and generous man who had a deep love for his family and friends. Buck never met a stranger and befriended everyone he encountered. He had a real love for children, and they had the same for him. He could light up any room and always took time to listen to others. He loved sports and enjoyed playing and coaching softball as well as playing tennis. In his later years he enjoyed playing cornhole. He was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed spending time at Stoney Creek Campground in Greenville.

Buck will forever be a light for many and will never be forgotten. He would want you to remember to give everything your best and to give a hand to anyone that needs it and never give up on yourself or others.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Jere Karin Grove Fitzgerald whom he married on July 18, 1969; his daughters, Michele Lee Fitzgerald Towler Lawson and Kristy Renee Fitzgerald Gilliam and her husband, Jeff; his twin sister, Priscilla Hundley his grandchildren, Zachary Lawson and his wife, Alexis and Taylor Mayz and her husband, Travis; and his great-grandchildren, Aria Andrews and Rowan Mayz; his niece, Beth High; and his nephews Steve Pusey and Joe Hundley.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Wallace Fitzgerald; and his granddaughter, Sarah Towler.
