Raymond R. Blair, 92, died peacefully in his home on July 25, 2021 in Staunton, VA. He was born October 17, 1928, in Bridgeport, Ohio, son of the late Ruel and Esther Steinman Blair.
Ray married Elizabeth (Bettie) Keevert in 1953, and together raised four children. He graduated from St. Clairsville High School and Elliott Business School, was an Air Force Veteran, and retired as an accountant from Consolidation Coal Company.
Ray was an avid golfer and loved sports, gardening, and outdoors. He and Bettie also loved playing bridge and competing in tournaments. Those who knew him appreciated his positive outlook and easygoing attitude. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Brightview Baldwin Park for making Ray and Bettie feel at home for the past three years.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by five sisters, Carol Paglialunga, Evelyn Pickenpaugh, Catherine Paludniak, Judy Dombroski, and Marcia Patterson; three brothers William, Ralph, and Jim; and a granddaughter Molly Long.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years Bettie (Keevert) Blair, his sons Mark (Jane McNeil) Blair, Williamsburg, VA, Michael (Judy DeNapoli) Blair, Englewood CO, Dennis (Debbie) Blair, Westerville, OH, and daughter Becky (Billy) Kingsley, of Churchville, VA. He will be remembered and missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers John Blair, St.Clairsville, OH, Gene (Rose Marie) Blair, Tolland, CT, Ben (Anne) Blair, St. Clairsville, and Don (Charlotte) Blair, St. Clairsville, two sisters Edna Coward, Cedar Hill, TX and Annette (Yale) Budovsky, Las Vegas, NV.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
