RAYMOND E. FRIDLEY STAUNTON, VA Raymond Edward Fridley, 89, husband of Louise Elizabeth (Shiflett) Fridley, of Staunton, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Envoy of Staunton. He was born August 1, 1923, in Augusta County, a son of the late Modie S. and Mary Elizabeth (Tredway) Fridley. Mr. Fridley was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. Prior to retirement, Mr. Fridley was employed by Smith's Transfer with 30 years of service. He was a member of Miller Memorial Baptist Church and a lifetime member of VFW Post 2216. In addition to his wife, family members include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary L. and Toni Fridley and Terry D. Fridley, all of Staunton; a brother and sister-in-law, Lonzie W. and Wilma Fridley of Florida; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Hazel and Harold Curry and Marie and John Clarke, all of Staunton and Barbara Steven of Augusta Springs; four grandchildren, Renee Tilman and husband, Robbie, Mark Fridley, Kyanna Fridley, and Kathy Fridley; four great grandchildren, Samantha Bird, McKenzie Tilman, Katie Fridley, and Ethan Fridley; and best friend, Henry McNeal. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2012, in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens by the Rev. Kemper L. Dean. Graveside rites will be conducted by Staunton VFW Post 2216. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
