Reecy "Jackie" Jerdena Beahm Bottenfield, 89, peacefully left this world on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at her residence in Churchville, surrounded by her family.
She was born on January 10, 1934, in Augusta County, to the late Gilbert Alderton and Phylis Taft Crawford Beahm.
For over thirty years, Jackie worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at King's Daughters Hospital in Staunton and Augusta Health in Fishersville. Through her hard work and compassionate nature, Jackie made a significant impact on those she cared for during her tenure at those hospitals.
In addition to her career, Jackie found great joy in various hobbies and interests throughout her life. She was an active member of Saint Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Churchville for many years. Jackie had a deep love for nature and gardening; spending time outdoors brought her peace and contentment. She also had a unique passion for hunting and took pride in teaching her children the art of squirrel hunting. Watching the ships come in and out of Norfolk was always a special experience that they enjoyed together, and she was a major supporter of her husband's hobby in the Reserve Coast Guard.
Jackie will forever be cherished by her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Rodger Lee Bottenfield of Ohio, Gary Wayne Bottenfield and his wife, Susan of Stuarts Draft, Glenn Alan Bottenfield and his wife, Joan of Churchville; and Doris Bottenfield Rutledge Byrd and her husband, Michael of Verona; her grandchildren, Meghan Bottenfield Shiflett, Christy Lynn Bottenfield, Eddie Rutledge, Cody Rutledge; her step-grandchildren Matt Mader, Justin Mader, and Michelle Busick and her husband, Robert; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her loving husband of forty-seven years, Carl Glen Bottenfield, she is preceded in death by her step-mother, Daisy Alther Beahm; her daughter, Carol Ann Bottenfield Smith; her brother, James Thomas Beahm; her sister, Gloris Lorraine Beahm Rudy; and her grandson, Jimmy Smith.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 21, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 9:30 AM at Saint Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend Rod Ronneberg officiating. Interment will follow at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
A reception at Saint Peter's will follow the interment.
