ROBERT W. ROHR STAUNTON, VA…Robert William Rohr, 94, husband of Ferne (Driver) Rohr, of 1410 A North Augusta Street, died Thursday, August 9, 2018, at his residence. He was born October 1, 1923, in Staunton, a son of the late William James “W.J.” and Lelia (Jordan) Rohr. Mr. Rohr was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1942 – 45, during World War II. Prior to retirement, he was employed by C & P Telephone Company. He was a very active member of the Staunton Church of the Brethren. He was an Active Member of the Staunton Fire Department for over 60 years, a Life Member of the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad, the C & P Pioneers, and a leader for Boy Scouts Troop 126. In addition to his wife, whom he married June 20, 1946, family members include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stephen William and Debbie (Masincup) Rohr of Churchville and Douglas Wayne Rohr of Verona and his fiancé`, Valerie Locklear; a brother,  Richard B. Rohr of San Jose, California; grandchildren, Curtis William Rohr and his wife, Rebecca; and a great grandchild, Lola James Rohr; and two foster grandchildren, JR and Victoria Warrington. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Betty Jo (Landes) Rohr; and a sister, Catherine Rohr Campbell. A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday, August 13, 2018, in the Staunton Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Scott Duffey. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2018 at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be George Folks, Donnie Fauber, Bruce Stanley, Davy Jordan, Alonzo Taylor, David and Jeff Driver. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Staunton Fire Department, members of the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad, and members of the Staunton Church of the Brethren Senior Group. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2018, at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Staunton Church of the Brethren, 1615 North Coalter Street, Staunton, VA 24401, to the Staunton Fire Department, 500 North Augusta Street, Staunton, VA 24401, or to the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad, 1601 North Coalter Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
