Roscoe Clifton Thompson, 74, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville.
He was born on June 12, 1949, in Norfolk to Louise Orneatha Harris Thompson and the late Arthur Watts Thompson.
Roscoe will be remembered for his admirable qualities and his dedication to his family and country.
Roscoe had a deep sense of pride in his service to the United States Air Force. He served with honor and commitment, leaving behind a legacy of honor and duty.
He was a great conversationalist and never met a stranger. He had an incredible passion for cooking and was always most at home in the kitchen. He also worked as an Uber driver.
In addition to his mother, Roscoe is survived by his beloved wife, Valerie Inez Smith Thompson; his daughter, Nykia Smith; his step-daughter, Bianca Smith; his granddaughter, Raelynn Smith-Dean; his sisters, Mary Thompson Melton and Jimmie Lorraine Thompson Jones; his brother, Ronald W Thompson; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his father, Roscoe is preceded in death by a brother, John Arthur Thompson and a sister, Pamela Regina Thompson Richard.
To honor Roscoe's memory and celebrate his life, the family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Michael Turner officiating.
It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD, 21741).
