Rosemary Theresa McIntyre Brady, 98, died Saturday, June 8, 2024, at AVIVA Baldwin Park assisted living facility in Staunton.
Rosemary was born in Girardville, Pennsylvania on September 23, 1925, to the late Marcella and James McIntyre.
Rosemary lived a full and exciting life. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, her pet dogs, supporting the needy and her community.
For years she owned and operated the Golden Tub Bath Shop on East Beverley Street in Staunton. Her friendly and outgoing personality resulted in her making many friends around town.
Before calling Staunton her hometown she had stops in several places: Harrisburg, Pa, Washington, D.C., Ankara, Turkey (twice), Casablanca, Morocco, New York City and Aspen, Colorado.
During World War II, she joined the Selective Service in Washington, D.C. After the war, she accepted an assignment to be a stenographer at Nuremberg, Germany where she witnessed many of the war crime trials for Schutzstaffel (SS troopers) and the doctors stationed at the concentration camps.
She met her late husband, Colonel Roland "Bud" Brady, Jr. at the Pentagon and they were subsequently married in Ankara, Turkey where he was assigned to the American Embassy.
She is survived by her 100-year-old sister, Eleanore Speicher of Buffalo, NY and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her loving husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Jean Geoffery.
The family would like to thank the care givers at AVIVA Baldwin Park for their generosity and for the care given to Rosemary.
A future memorial mass will be scheduled for Rosemary at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Staunton.
She will be inurned at a future date in Arlington National Cemetery.
