Sandra F. Lucas

Sandra Kay Fitzgerald Lucas, 75, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at August Healthcare at Richmond.

She was born on February 27, 1949, in Staunton to the late Saylor Blaine and Louise Burgess Allen Fitzgerald.

Sandra retired from the State of Virginia with over thirty years of service. She also retired from Crawford & Company with several additional years of service.

Sandy loved to create beautiful things. She enjoyed making flower arrangements, sewing and directing weddings. Her all-time favorite holiday was Christmas. She would decorate every room in her home with a Christmas tree and have an open house where she’d dress as Mrs. Claus. She will be remembered for her giggle and a beautiful smile that would light up a room.

She is survived by her brother-in law, John B. Campbell, Jr. of Waynesboro; her special niece, Wendy Campbell Batts and her husband, Joel P. Batts of Greenville; her wonderful friend, Rhonda Wilson and her husband, Tony of Richmond, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Velda Sharon Fitzgerald Campbell.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro with the Pastor Billy Coffey officiating.
