Sarah Jane (Sutherland) Cash, 85, widow of Charles Edward Cash, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Sarah was born on January 14, 1937 in Staunton to the late Charles Otis and Alice Marie (Blackwell) Sutherland.
She diligently served as the head housekeeper at Mary Baldwin College for over thirty years.
She is survived by her sons, Mervin G. Benson and his wife, Sarah A. and Kenneth L. Benson and his wife, Yvette C.; her brothers, Otis Tilden Sutherland, Avis Voliver Sutherland, and Ernest “Ernie” Albert Sutherland, Sr.; her sister, Pauline “Polly” Elizabeth Caricofe; a special niece, Monique; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Max.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Ferraba Marie Clark.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens with Reverend Russell Heinrich officiating.
