Shannon Bray Smith, 78, wife of Donald L. Plambeck of 1267 Meadowbrook Road, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.
She was born September 2, 1940, in Mt. Airy, NC, a daughter of the late Robert Moir, Sr., and Rachel Bray Smith.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. Smith served as a fund raiser for The United Way.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
She was active in needlepoint and book clubs and served on the Valley Symphonic Board.
In addition to her husband, family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Molly Stockley (Charles) of New York City and Tenley Evans (Donald) of Lexington, N. C.; two step-daughters, Catherine McGuffey (Douglas) and Amy Ebner, all of Silver Spring, Maryland; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Moir Smith, Jr., of Greensboro, North Carolina; and a nephew, James Frederick Smith (Katherine), of Belews Creek, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-son, Steven Plambeck.
Burial will be private in Oakdale Cemetery in Mt. Airy, North Carolina.
