Susan Jeanette Reese Alley, 61, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at LewisGale Medical Center in Salem.
A native of Rockbridge County, she was born on born on October 9, 1962, to Luther Lyle Reese and the late Sandra Jean Ayers Reese.
Susan had a fulfilling career as the assistant manager of White's Travel Center in Raphine. She was known for her dedication and hard work in everything she pursued.
Outside of work, Susan found joy in various hobbies and interests. She had a green thumb and was happiest when working in her yard, especially caring for her beloved flowers. Painting and shopping were also activities that really enjoyed. Susan's vibrant personality shone through her social nature; she cherished conversations with people and never hesitated to strike up a chat with strangers. Above all, Susan treasured time spent with her grandchildren and took delight in attending their baseball games.
Susan will be dearly missed by her surviving family and friends, including her father; her sons, Samuel Dean and Brandon Wade Davis; her daughters, Kelli Oldan and Wendi Nicole Smith; her partner, Jonathan Lowell Alley; her brothers, Luther "Buzzy" Brian and Keith Wayne Reese; her grandchildren, Kaylee Renee Davis, David Wade Austin, Logan Dean Stone Austin, Willow Fawn Davis, and Victoria Adele Davis; and her aunt, Barbara Ann Worrell.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her uncles, Roy Lenwood and Charles Wilson Ayers, and a grandson, Jacob Neil Sweeney.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.
A graveside service will be conducted at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Sarah Hill officiating.
