Theron T. Benson

Theron T. Benson, 93, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Augusta Health in Fishersville. He was born on April 24, 1931, in Augusta County to the late Clyde Henry Benson and Willie "Nealie" Cornelia Drawbond Benson.

Throughout his life, Theron was known for his musical talent. He enjoyed playing guitar, often filling nursing homes and local fire departments with melody and joy. His passion for music was matched by his enthusiasm for Dodge Mopar cars and NASCAR, with Sterling Marlin being his favorite driver.

Theron is survived by his step-son, Michael Leavell; two step-daughters, Kay Mader (Jay) and Janet Robinett; Carleen "Rinky" Benson Desper; special niece, Shelia Green; and numerous nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his companion of 33 years, Joyce Johnson; his sisters, Mary "Merf" Elizabeth Benson Henderson, Ruth Delphine Benson DePriest, Mabel Cornelia Benson Coffey; and his brothers, Robert "Fuzzy" Eugene Benson, George Preston Benson, James "Jim" William Benson, and Wallace Clyde Benson.

A service will be held at a later date.
