Violet Lucas Simmons

VIOLET S. SIMMONS STUARTS DRAFT, VA Violet Lucas (Sweet) Simmons, 83, wife of William Al Simmons, of 102 Gloucester Road, Stuarts Draft, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Emeritus of Staunton. She was born September 18, 1927 in Greenville, a daughter of the late Earman Hansford and Mary George (Arehart) Sweet. Mrs. Simmons was a member of Third Presbyterian Church. In addition to her husband, family members include a son, Bob Simmons of Stuarts Draft and a grandson, William Nathan Simmons. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011 in Third Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jack B. Wilkers. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Third Presbyterian Church, 1313 Barterbrook Road, Staunton, VA 24401 or to the Alzheimers Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
