Virginia Frances (Morman) Alexander, 87, widow of Carl Lynn Alexander, Sr. passed away on March 4, 2023 in Staunton, VA.
She was born on August 3, 1935, in Augusta County, VA, a daughter of the late Lillie Mae Morman.
She attended Booker T. Washington High School and was employed by General Electric for 30 years, until her retirement.
She was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was very involved in the senior choir, missionary board and usher board. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxillary. Virginia loved spending time with her family, singing, crocheting, and walking around Gypsy Hill Park. She had a servant’s heart, and enjoyed helping people in any way that she was able.
She is survived by her children: Carl L. Alexander, Jr., of Virginia Beach, Sylvia A. Spencer, of Staunton, Pamela A. Cooke (Ronald) of Lansing, MI, and Donna A. Fuller (Chris), of Philadelphia, PA; a sister, Hattie Crawford Kelly; grandchildren; Demia A. Turner (Sam), Cory L. Alexander (Kristen), Tonya S. Brandon (Ronnie), Britteney A. Cooke, Brandee Cooke-Brown (Berton), Erica D. Alexander, Alexander A. Williams, and Logan J. Williams. great-grandchildren, Chase Turner, Payton Turner, Cory L. Alexander, Kayla Holmes, Michael Holmes, Weylin Holmes (Monica), Kenny Brown, Berton Brown, and Daniya Hunter; great-great grandchildren, London Holmes, Teagon Holmes, Layton Holmes, Naomi Smith, Noah Smith, and Xion Estela; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her mother and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Osbourne Alexander, and three brothers, George Alexander Morman, Dunbar Crawford Morman, and Junior Garfield Morman.
The family will receive friends on Friday March 10, 2023 from 6-8 P.M. at Henry Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 11, 2023 at 12 Noon at Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Michael Turner and Rev. Dr. Edward Scott. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
