Wayne L. Wolfe, 69, of Churchville, gained his angel wings on January 15, 2023, at his residence after a battle with cancer.
He was born on July 13, 1953, to the late William Nathan and Anna Pearl Rexrode Wolfe.
He was a graduate of Buffalo Gap High School and employed by Kenco Logistics for 48 years.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Rowe Wolfe; a son, Kevin Wayne Wolfe (Desire); a daughter, Leslie Armstrong (Shaam Wheeler); four grandchildren who were the joy of his life, Morgan and Megan Wolfe, Chase Armstrong (Ally) and Collin Armstrong.
He is survived by a brother, Calvin Wolfe (Jewell); four sisters, Brenda Mitchell (Doug), Donna Wolfe, Sherry Ann Wolfe Welcher, and Sandra Kay Wolfe Botkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind special brothers-in-law, Roger Hays and Pete Rowe.
He had a special place in his heart for his niece Kim Mahon (Mike) and their son, Sean Thomas, who he considered a grandson.
Thank you to his special friends, Linda Tinsley, the late Dwight Tinsley, and Mark Tinsley for their life-long friendship. They were more like family.
He was a loving, caring, generous, and faithful man who enjoyed a simple life and loved his family. He could do anything from building his home, which he loved and shared with his wife, to working on vehicles. There weren’t many things he couldn’t do. His passion was fishing, he loved to take trips to Nags Head and throw a line in the water. He loved work and never considered it a job; it was his family. He will be missed by so many.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Jerusalem Chapel Church, 935 Jerusalem Chapel Rd., Churchville, Virginia 24421, officiated by Pastor Mark Tinsley.
