William “Bill” Frederick Armstrong, 69, passed away from this life on earth Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Staunton Post Acute and Rehabilitation Center in Staunton.
He was born on August 14,1955, in Staunton, the only son to the late Franklin Leroy and Anna Louise Fitzgerald Armstrong.
Bill attended Staunton City Schools then went on to devote many years of his life to the construction industry, working for Lantz Construction where he retired from. He attended Southside Church of God.
Outside of his work life he was an avid outdoorsman and had a deep passion for hunting and fishing. In his spare time, he could often be found in the mountains, surrounded by nature. William also held memberships in the Loyal Order of Moose Staunton Lodge #1635 and Elliott's Knob Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 680.
He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Jean Armstrong McCray and Betty Louise Armstrong Powers; his two nieces, six nephews; his brother-in-law, Rick Shifflett; and a number of special cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two younger sisters, Carol Lee Armstrong Shifflett and June Gayle Armstrong Campbell.
A celebration of life for this gentle man will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Southside Church of God in Jolivue with Pastor Phillip Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 PM.
Memorial donations may be made to Cat’s Cradle (122 S Main St. #101, Harrisonburg, VA 22801) or Southside Church of God (35 1st St, Staunton, VA 24401).
Henry Funeral Home is entrusted with handling the arrangements for Bill.
