William J. Gibson

William Jewell Gibson, 84, of Virginia Beach and formerly of Staunton, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2024, at Bickford of Virginia Beach. 

He was born on October 5, 1939, in Alleghany to the late William Obenchain and Louise Arnetta Miller Gibson. 

He lived a life marked by his deep commitment to his church and his home. A long-time, active member of the Fountain of Life Church of God of Prophecy in Staunton, William's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He loved the Lord dearly, dedicating a significant portion of his time to service within his church community. His faith was evident not only in his attendance but also in his warm and genuine interactions with others. He also found great joy in working around his home and tending to his garden. His pride in his yard was apparent to all who knew him, as he was often seen trimming and maintaining the landscape with care and dedication.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Armelda Mae Gibson Rucker, Geraldine Gwendolyn Gibson Wolfe and Nancy Ellen Gibson Persinger.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Fountain of Life Church of God of Prophecy on Saturday, September 21, 2024. A funeral service will follow at the same location beginning at 1:00 PM with Pastor David Smith officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.
