WILLIAM J. SOUTHERS, JR. STAUNTON, VA William James "Jim" Southers, Jr., 87, widower of Katherine Marjorie (Fleisher) Southers, of Staunton, died Friday, October 18, 2013, at Shenandoah Hospice House, Fishersville. He was born April 3, 1926, in River Junction, Florida, a son of the late William James and Elizabeth (Young) Southers. He owned and operated Southers Greenhouses, Inc. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, "Jenna" Southers Frank and Bruce Frank of Staunton; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy C. and June Southers of Buena Vista; a sister, Dorothy (Zimbro) Trainum; two grandchildren, Miles Coleburn Bocock of Virginia Beach and Kenton Maxwell Bocock of Greensboro, North Carolina; and a very special friend, Sue Fultz and her daughter, Stephanie, of Staunton. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2013, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jim Harris. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013, in the funeral home and other times at the home of Jenna and Bruce Frank.
