Yahya S. Hassan

Mr. Yahya S. Hassan, 70, widower of Debra Ann (Burress) Hassan, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Southside Community Hospital in Farmville.

He was born on August 26, 1954, in Staunton to the late John Henry Breckenridge and Mary Smith.

Yahya lived a life filled with dedication and service, having served in the United States Army. His life was marked by a deep commitment to God and family. He was an avid fisherman, a jack of all trades, found great joy in spending time outdoors, and enjoyed martial arts. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his passionate spirit and infectious smile. He loved his family, nature and taking care of people. 

He is survived by his sons, Adhan and Jamal Hassan; his daughters, Omega and Ihsanah Hassan; his brother, Gregory Breckenridge; his sisters, Marlene Johnson, Linda Breckenridge, Vanessa May and Laura Carter; and his grandchildren, Mashiir Hassan, Zahkii Hassan, Khaliq Hassan, Soule Hassan, Ihsiyah Hassan, and Jamal Hassan Jr.

A private family viewing will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 2,2024.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.
