Mr. Corbin is the President and an Owner. He joined the company in October of 1978 and became general manager in 1982. On December 12, 2012, he passed the responsibilities of General Manager to Mark A. Clarke. He continues to be available to families in his role as President and as Funeral Director.
In October 1984, he became the owner of Henry Funeral Home. He is a lifelong resident of Augusta County having been raised in the Greenville area. He is an active member of the Valley Baptist Church.
Mr. Corbin completed his Mortuary Arts and Science education at Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1972.
Mr. Clarke is in his 30th year of service with Henry Funeral Home. Mark began his career in Funeral Service in 1983. He joined the staff in January of 1995 as a Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer and became Assistant Manager on July 7, 2005. On December 12, 2012, upon the retirement of Bob Corbin, he assumed the responsibilities of General Manager.
Mark graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. While at Wesleyan, his academic focus also included voice, choral music, and theater. He completed his education in Mortuary Arts and Sciences at what is now the University of Baltimore. He has served as President of the Shenandoah Valley Funeral Director's Association and served on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Funeral Directors Association. He has served as Chairman of the Education Committee for the Virginia Funeral Directors' Association and as a member of the Convention Committee and the Professional Development Committee. He also served on the Pre-Need Funeral Trust Advisory Board for Shenandoah Life Insurance Company. He has served on the Board of Augusta Health Hospice of Shenandoah. Mr. Clarke has been a featured speaker for a number of civic and church groups on topics related to funeral options, advanced planning, and cremation decisions. He also holds CANA Certification in Crematory Operations.
Mark is a member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Staunton/Augusta County. He is a member of St. Paul's Church in Staunton, where he has served in various positions at the local church and state levels, and served on a church-building mission team in a remote village in Guatemala. He resides in Augusta County with his wife, Anne. They have three grown children, Quenton and his wife Krystal, Noah and his wife Faith, and Marina; and a beautiful granddaughter, Rienna.
Charlie joined the staff of Henry Funeral Home in June 2008. He is a 2008 graduate of Grace Christian High School and received the rank of Eagle Scout in 2007.
Charlie graduated from John Tyler Community College in Chester, Va in December of 2011 with an associate's Degree in Mortuary Science. He became a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in April 2012.
Charlie is a member of the Community Fellowship Church in Staunton.
Charlie is also a member of the Staunton Rotary Club. He resides in Staunton with his wife Jody and two children, Sven and Katrin.
David “Derek” Carter grew up in Waynesboro Virginia. He graduated from Waynesboro High School in 2012 and began to pursue a career in culinary arts before graduation. He met his wife Sarah in 2013 while working together at Cracker Barrel and they have been inseparable since. From there he went on to run the kitchen at Stella Bella Lucy’s in Waynesboro where he grew a strong connection to his community. Derek and Sarah married in the fall of 2015 and have since nestled into a home in Waynesboro with their cat and two dogs. During the height of the pandemic, he decided to hang up his chef coat and pursue a new career in funeral services. Currently attending Brightpoint Community College, Derek will graduate in the spring of 2024 with his Associate of Applied Science and Funeral Directing. Derek is also a certified crematory operator, and what started as a new career opportunity has blossomed into a passion for assisting families in their time of need. In his time outside of work, he is very passionate about music, a car enthusiast, and loves traveling with his wife and being outdoors.
Jeffrey joined Henry Funeral Home as a Licensed Funeral Director on January 1, 2013. A veteran of the United States Navy, Jeffrey completed his education in Mortuary Science from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and received his Funeral Director's License in 1989. He is also a Certified Crematory Operator.
He is married to Cindy Hodge, a Waynesboro school teacher, and they have three children, Nolan, Hannah, and Callie. Jeffrey and Cindy are members of Community Fellowship Church and currently live in Staunton.
He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys gardening, hiking, and most recently, cycling.
Mrs. Arey joined Henry Funeral Home in December 2011. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Longwood University.
Mrs. Arey is a member of Greenville Baptist Church where she serves as Church Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and as Youth Leader.
She lives in Greenville with her husband, Larry, and their two children, Olivia and Alex.
Clay Sterrett, a Staunton resident for most of his life, has served as a co-pastor at Community Fellowship Church in Staunton, VA for over 40 years. He is also a part-time Bible teacher at Grace Christian School. He is available in a non-denominational capacity to officiate church, chapel, graveside, and memorial services.
Chaplain Russell L. Heinrich is the former pastor in the United Methodist Church. Russell joined the staff of Henry Funeral Home in January of 2012. As Chaplain, Rev. Heinrich officiates ceremonies/services/celebrations as needed by families.
He graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1987 and graduated from Eastern Mennonite Seminary in 2004. Russell is a member of the AACC, American Association of Christian Conselors.
Russell grew up in the Staunton area and currently lives in Verona with his wife, Pam. He has two daughters, Cierra Keense and Nicole Heinrich, and two stepdaughters, Emily and Katelyn Neighbors.
Janet has been a part of the Henry staff since February 1, 1974. She retired from her position as Office Manager/Bookkeeper on February 29, 2012. She remains a part of the Henry Funeral Home staff as a Funeral Assistant.
She is married to Harold T. Coiner, a retired Staunton police sergeant. The Coiners have one daughter and a son by marriage, Jeanie and John Wangler and four grandchildren, Jonathan, Hannah, Selah, and Jacob.
Janet is a member of Hope Community Church, Waynesboro, where she enjoys being a greeter, prayer concerns coordinator, and leading the Adult Sunday School Class.
She leads the Mallory Miracles and thoroughly enjoys being a "Red Hatter" with the Red Hatter Luncheon Ladies.
Mr. Wampler joined the staff of Henry Funeral Home in September 1978. He currently serves as a Funeral Assistant with a variety of responsibilities.
He is an active member of Staunton Church of the Brethren and is a commissioned lay speaker. He and his wife Doris reside in Waynesboro.
John and Doris have one daughter, Diane W. Kester who lives in Waynesboro with her husband Jerry.
Punkie Wood retired from Sun Trust Bank after 50 years of service.
Punkie is an active member of Olivet Presbyterian Church.
She is a Coordinator with SACRA. She makes weekly visits to shut-ins at King's Daughters' Nursing and Rehab Center and Brookdale Assisted Living.
Punkie loves spending time with her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kasey Reid Wood, and their dogs, Boo, Emma, and Tessa. She is also an avid gardener.
Orin Wesley “O.W.” Gilbert, Jr., 98, widower of Mazie Ellen (Garber) Gilbert, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at his residence.
O.W. was born on November 13, 1924, in Augusta County to the late Orin Wesley, Sr. and Georgia Ruth (Cupp) Gilbert.
He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1980 after thirty-two years of service. He also served honorably as a corporal in the Army Air Corps in WWII where he piloted B-24s.
O.W. loved singing and was a member of the Rockingham Male Chorus and the Everyoung Singers. He served on the Augusta County Board of Supervisors and was a member of the Friends of the Augusta County Library where he was involved in securing the Fishersville branch’s current location. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and telling jokes.
In his retirement, he worked as a Funeral Assistant at Henry Funeral Home for over twenty-five years and volunteered at the Fishersville 7-11, where he was fondly referred to as “Mr. G.”
He was a devoted Christian and an active member of Staunton Church of the Brethren, serving on the church boards of both Barren Ridge and Staunton Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his sons, David W. and his wife, Sherry of Chatanooga, TN and Alan D. and his wife, Penny of Staunton; his sisters, Pauline Jane (Gilbert) Miller of Harrisonburg and Louise “Tommy” Emma (Gilbert) Grant of Middlebrook; his grandchildren, Brennen Gilbert of Staunton, Christopher Gilbert of Germantown, TN, Myriah Alberson of Olive Branch, MS, his great-grandchildren, Sam Gilbert, Tucker Gilbert, and Saralyn Gilbert.
In addition to his parents and his loving wife, Mazie, of fifty-six years, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia May (Gilbert) Ochletree, Elizabeth Harriette (Gilbert) Crickenberger, and Arlene Frances (Gilbert) Crickenberger and his grandson, Samuel Gilbert.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Carol Rubush of Verona for her continued support and care of O.W. throughout the last years of his life. The family is grateful to Augusta Health Hospice of Shenandoah for their comfort and care.

Robert "Bob" Francis Campbell, 79, husband of Wanda (Snyder) Campbell, of 429 Betsy Bell Road, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Friday, June 8, 2018 at his residence.
He was born July 3, 1938 in Staunton, Virginia, a son of the late Ulyssess Francis and Lorine (Fitzgerald) Campbell.
Prior to retirement, he was employed by Dupont with 30 ½ years of service as a research assistant. He was also employed by Henry Funeral Home as a funeral assistant.
Mr. Campbell was member of Linden Heights Baptist Church and the founder of the Coachmen Quartet that started in 1968.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, family members include three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael "Micky" and Michele Campbell, Anthony "Tony" and Sonya Campbell and Tracy and Lisa Campbell; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold "Pete" and Ada Campbell; three grandchildren, Ciara Campbell and boyfriend, Cody Montgomery, Kristen Campbell and Cayden Campbell; a step grandson, Christopher Cleveland and girlfriend, Payton Hill; and a soon to be great granddaughter, Addison Day.
He was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnne Armstrong.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Linden Heights Baptist Church by Revs. Luke Smith, Dennis Sites, and David Anderson. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Mausoleums & Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Pete Campbell, John Lane, Chris Campbell, Kendall Bennett, Chris Templeton, Alec Christian, Dale Snyder and Dwayne Armstrong.

John "Dick" Richard Bartenslager, 90, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Brightview at Baldwin Park in Staunton.
He was born on November 27, 1933, in York County, PA to the late Dr. Arthur "Doc" Valentine Bartenslager and Mrs. Delilah Orr Bartenslager.
Dick had a rich and fulfilling life, marked by diverse career experiences that ultimately led him to find his true passion in the funeral industry.
A man of many talents, Dick pursued various occupations throughout his lifetime. From working at Smith's Transfer in Verona, at the Staunton and Augusta Correctional Facilities, to tending to the family farm, Bellemonte in Churchville where he raised his family, Dick’s work ethic and dedication shone through. However, it was his role as a licensed funeral director and embalmer that truly resonated with him. He extended his expertise as a trade embalmer for numerous funeral homes across the region and he retired from Jones Funeral Home in Winchester after eight years of service and then relocated back to Staunton. Once there, it was not long before he began a second career at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton, which began in February 1996. His employment spanned an impressive twenty-three years during which he continued to establish himself as a consummate professional known for his compassion, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to serving others.
Dick's educational background includes graduating from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1961 – a milestone that laid the foundation for his successful career in the funeral industry. Beyond his professional endeavors, he honorably served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman during the Korean War, showcasing his commitment to both his country and those in need.
Outside of work and service, Dick immersed himself in various interests and activities that brought him joy. A member of York Lodge No. 266 F&AM in Pennsylvania and attended Waynesboro's Lee Lodge No. 209 A.F. & A.M., Dick embodied kindness and grace in all interactions. He had a profound love for gardening, food, and traveling—an enthusiasm he shared with his beloved wife, Helen and his best friend, Bob Corbin. The inseparable pair cherished their time together and made countless memories filled with love and laughter. Dick was also an active member of Saint Paul's Church in Staunton where his faith guided him throughout life.
He is survived by his children, Lisa Lynn Bartenslager, Arthur Conway Bartenslager and his wife, Ruth, Brock Orr Bartenslager and his wife, Melissa, and John Talmon Bartenslager and his wife, Kelly; his sisters, Ann Hanger, Linda Henry, and Pamela Michael; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Virginia Arthur Bartenslager, who passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024, as well as his grandson, Jeb Tanner Rippey Bartenslager; and his sister, Margaret "Tunie" Joan Bartenslager Robinson.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. A funeral service will directly follow at 3:30 PM with the Reverend Ryan Oswald officiating. Interment will be private with military and Masonic honors at Green Hill Cemetery in Churchville.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Dick's sons and grandsons.

John “Bucky” Wesley Stone, III, 76, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at his residence in Staunton.
He was born on December 19, 1947, in Staunton to the late John Wesley “Buck”, Jr. and Mary Evelyn Desper Stone.
He was employed with the Virginia Department of Corrections for twenty-five years. He also worked part-time at Henry Funeral Home for over twenty years.
Bucky was a proud member of the United States Army and a Vietnam veteran having served his country, with unwavering courage and commitment. His bravery and sacrifice are a testament to his character and his patriotism. He had a deep love for gardening and flowers as well as trains and golfing. He was a devoted member of the Verona Fire Department for twenty years, having served as chief for ten years.
He is survived by his son, Wesley Stone and his wife, Lori; his beloved sister, Connie Kennedy and her husband, Chuck; his grandchildren, Somer Warren and her husband, Matt and Seth Stone and fiancé, Ashley Atkins; brother-in-law, John Reed; his great grandchildren, Landon and Braelyn Warren, Avery Stone and Bentley Dameron and his cats, Morris, Oreo, Punkin and Lucy.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Eleanor Reed Stone; his brother-in-law, Joe Reed and his cat, Sissy.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 8, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.
A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Field of Valor section at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton with Reverend Russell Heinrich officiating.
